On June 10, the first phase of the lithium copper foil project of the Far Eastern Yibin Intelligent Industrial Park was officially put into production in the Luolong Industrial Park of the Nanxi Economic Development Zone in Yibin City. At the same time, a brief groundbreaking ceremony was held for the second phase of the project.
Far Eastern Yibin Intelligent Industrial Park is the first power battery supporting project stationed in Nanxi, and it is also the first ten-billion-dollar manufacturing enterprise in Nanxi. The project has an annual production capacity of 215,000 kilometers of various types of cables, 2.1 million kilometers of wires, and 60,000 tons of copper (aluminum) foil. After reaching production, it will become the largest copper foil production base for lithium-ion battery in China and the largest cable production base in Southwest China.
In the cable production workshop of the first phase, skilled workers are skillfully manipulating intelligent machines to carry out cable processing and production in an orderly manner. "The successful commissioning of the first phase, followed by the full launch of the second phase without stopping, is a firm confidence in investing in the development of power battery industry in Yibin." The relevant person in charge of Far Eastern Holding Group disclosed that, in particular, Yibin will vigorously develop the energy storage industry at the 2023 Power Battery Conference, seizing the opportunity of the development of the entire industry, "Under this opportunity, the copper (aluminum) foil products produced by Far Eastern will also be applied to the field of energy storage in the future."
The successful commissioning of the first phase of Far Eastern's project and the official launch of the second phase of the project mark a new situation in the synergy of Yibin's power battery industry, and another new achievement in Yibin's construction of an ecological priority, green and low-carbon development pioneer zone, which will strongly boost Yibin's acceleration of building a global first-class power battery industry cluster.
Xu Jian, deputy director of the People's Government of Nanxi District, Yibin City, said that the first phase of the project officially started in October 2021, and after the successful commissioning of the project, it will help Nanxi accelerate the establishment of an important growth pole in the demonstration area for the integrated development of human production and urbanization. Next, Nanxi will be in the enterprise attraction, cultivation, service, put great effort, spend great efforts, and strive to build 50 billion power battery and supporting industry clusters, early completion of the 100 billion park and national level economic development zone.
Yibin is the "Power Battery Capital of China", and is making every effort to build the world's largest power battery industry cluster with a total capacity of 305GWh. According to the analysis of supporting capacity, Yibin copper foil demand of about 244,000 tons (1GWh lithium batteries need to use about 800 tons of lithium copper foil), the market potential is huge, the development of space is broad. Nanxi District is accelerating the construction of 250,000-300,000 tons of copper (aluminum) foil, 200,000 tons of new energy cathode materials, and energy storage capacity industry, and is working towards the goal of "national important power battery and supporting industry base".
